Snow that arrived in December remained through January, and it began to melt around February 1st (Imbolc), the midpoint between the winter solstice and spring equinox. How very synchronistic.

The word "imbolc" means "in the belly of the Mother.” The seeds of spring are beginning to stir in the belly of Mother Earth.

What has begun stirring within you?

What hints of new beginnings are coming forth from your winter dreams?

Are there changes or transitions you're experiencing in your life?

what I’m loving right now

  • seeing the grass again as it emerges from under the snow

  • potato soup with astragalus root broth (sharing my recipe below)

  • audio and practice, “The Presence Process” by Michael Brown

  • reading “Energetic Herbalism” by Kat Maier

  • resting on an infrared mat

  • a new journey into music and sound, playing crystal singing bowls and a Native American style cedar flute

  • simmering and moving behind the scenes with plans for Forest & Flowers Retreat this year

oregano. milkweed. goldenrod.

potato soup with astragalus root

1/4 cup butter melted in a pot with one chopped onion, one tablespoon minced garlic and 2 cups shredded carrots.

Add 3 tablespoons flour or potato starch and coat the vegetables.

Add 2 1/2 cups astragalus root decoction, 2 1/2 cups coconut milk, and 5 cubed potatoes.

Herbs and spices… sage leaves, thyme leaves, turmeric powder, paprika, cumin powder… I don’t have specific amounts here, go by your preference and taste :)

Bring to a boil and then simmer until potatoes are soft, about 30 minutes.

a blessing for between seasons

Below, you'll find a prayerful blessing I wrote for honoring this season between. Play the audio to simply listen and feel, say it out loud along with me, or speak it within. May it call in presence, intention, and compassion. And may all be so blessed.
