Black Cohosh, Actaea racemosa

Black Cohosh is a perennial native to eastern North America. It typically grows 5-7 feet tall and loves shaded woodland areas. I already see tiny white flowers from the bareroots I planted just a couple months ago.

A treasured medicinal species, United Plant Savers has identified Black Coshoh as one of the “at risk” plants. Due to increased usage along with habitat destruction there’s an ever-increasing shortage of wild plant resources like this one.

It felt very important to plant this one, among others, at Forest & Flowers Retreat, and I’m looking forward to getting to know Black Cohosh, and sharing more about it with you!

In appreciation and in honor of the reciprocity of natyrë journal monthly and annual subscribers, Black Cohosh was planted at Forest & Flowers Retreat this season. Thank you.

You can either stroll the garden of the natyrë journal for free, choose a subscription option, or make a one-time contribution in reciprocity for what you receive here. Thank you.
